Does anyone think Jehovah is protecting the org. despite all the talk about THE ARC ?

i've been thinking this for a while.

even before the arc scandal.

Seems like if Jehovah wanted to help anyone, it would have been the children that were molested, especially the little girls and sometimes boys who had it happen while out in service or involved in a "theocratic" activity.

We are used to the harsh judgement and condemnation of others who sin or make mistakes, which we learned from our JW training and experience. I believe non JW's may be more lenient toward those who have been accused of wrongdoing and are careful not to go above the law or be hasty when determining how best to enforce the law.

It's not an easy thing to go after a large faceless organization that has a certain amount of power and influence and credibility. If Jehovah is helping them cover up their mistakes or evade punishment rather than helping the helpless little kids, then what does this say about the God of the universe?

(Then again....he did curse and allow to continue, the suffering of billions of people and animals for thousands of years and is going to destroy a bunch of people soon so...)

People who are depressed and who's only hope is that Jehovah will help them, should NOT be told to read the book of Job. To a depressed person, seeing that Jehovah's solution to Job's loss of his TEN children was to replace them with ten more children, is enough for them to realize that now, on top of everything they are going through, they can't even count on Jehovah for any real help.

This woman needed real practical help...NOW ! She needed someone to spend the night at her house. She needed someone to hold her car keys for a time. She needed someone to sit and grieve with her and not tell her to look at some F'ing bible story and tell her in so many words to quit feeling sorry for herself. She needed someone to walk her through the process of finding a LEGITIMATE counselor who is trained to teach people to manage grief.

These "unlettered and ordinary men" have no business acting as if they have some special insight about such a serious matter simply because the can cobble together a few old chestnuts everyone has heard a million times in the Watchtower. They should have insisted that she be monitored by family or friends until she could be seen by a professional.

As a side note. Did anyone catch that she said she was looking forward to being reunited as husband and wife with her deceased husband ? Is this a new thing? What if he gets resurrected and he doesn't want to marry her again....want's to play the field for 8 or 10 thousand years or so?

Also, how can anyone in this day and age still think the account of Job was anything more than a parable? Job's wife would have had to carry 20 kids (10 of them late in life) if this actually took place.

A JW experience

this is a quick experience i have recently had and i have two questions at the end.. a couple of weeks ago, the dogs were barking at the gate on saturday morning and wouldn't you know it, it was some witnesses.

there was a father with his lovely wife and their young daughter.

the father did all the talking as mother and daughter just dutifully smiled and watched.

My answer to those questions is as follows.

Bad news sells and that's why the daily media concentrates on the handful of people who are causing problems each day rather than on the billions who are having a normal day.

Jehovah's Witnesses meet together each week to listen to talks and study and discuss literature that primarily focuses on the wickedness of certain people of the world and highlights the mistakes made by other religious groups. They then use the news events of the day to confirm that their negative foregone conclusion is true. Even though they all benefit from all the historically unprecedented improvements in current health and living conditions and the strides that others have worked hard to accomplish in this regard, they choose to see the world as broken and irredeemable and the only solution is for God to kill billions of men women and children if they don't become Jehovah's Witnesses.

Do you see anything skewed about this?

Thoughts during the meeting today

while i'm politely sitting during the meeting today, restraining myself from rolling my eyes as the brother drones on about how "having an independent spirit is devilish in nature" and "independence from gods organization only results in pain and strife", i only have one thought going through my mind over and over.

"what would happen if i pulled out a gun and blew my brains out in this kingdom hall?".

would anyone notice or care?

You know, of course that they'd notice and that they'd care in their own way but they'd also be saying "How very sad...just goes to show how much pain and strife these stubborn independent thinkers endure, just like they said in the Watchtower today (sigh) "

If you think they'd implicate their own actions in any of the suffering you are enduring, you'd be wrong. To them, this was all brought upon yourself. Having your nose rubbed in it today is part of Jehovah's loving provision.

Hypocrites

get this my sister and her elder husband are visiting from over seas and are currently being groomed by bethel how to set a better example.they are being told how to behave right down to how to dress to set a proper christian example.anyway they are both over weight by a fair margin to be considered unhealthy.the clincher is this elder whom is over weight had the outright cheek to counsel my other sister whom is a j dub that she is over weight and needs to do something about it.

now hows that for hypocritical behaviour.prime example in any ones book dont you think???

I visited my Brother a few years ago in the West Palm Beach area and attended his meeting. It was the Circuit Overseers visit and this guy was huge...not just chubby but seriously obese. I'd guess he was about 5'10 and well on his way to or even possibly over 300 lbs. His suit must have been specially made.

At the end of the meeting he announced his plans for the week of activity. Most of it revolved around where he was going to eat and how much he was looking forward to sharing a meal with the "different ones". He even said..."And as everybody knows....Jehovah's people looooove to eat ! "

This was met with raucous laughter from the audience as if he had made the most witty of remarks. I couldn't believe in his condition and in view of what the Bible say's about gluttony, he'd bring up the topic of eating.

StarTek must have been drug to one of those oh so wonderful JW dinners that happen after assembly. Ya know, the ones where 16 people insist at sitting all together at a super long table in a restaurant. Where it takes forever to get the order taken, the food delivered, and finally to split up the check

You might be a JW if you've never eaten in a restaurant without being seated at a table for 24.

My experience with the people in my hall

i've been awake now for about 6 months i'd guess and a member here for a couple of weeks.

it's been eye opening to read other peoples experiences on here and i appreciate all of you.

i've noticed in many, seemingly most, of your comments that you were not treated well at your hall or you have had very negative experiences in the "org" so i thought i'd like to share mine.. in all my time as a jw i have to say for the most part i always loved the people.

I generally felt the same as you did about those I attended meeting with and knew as a JW and I like you was a bit naive' about people and glossed over what was really going on behind the scenes. In time, I realized that I was projecting my own good will and good intent onto others and the feelings I had about my experiences were based in emotion and how I was seeing things. The lifelong relationships I had with people were really quite one sided.

Once you get serious about the holes you are seeing in the doctrines or want real answers to your questions and speak to anyone about them, you begin to realize that they too have the same questions and these questions scare them. These once lovely people take on a whole new demeanor once you go off the carefully crafted JW script that is dependent on everyone speaking their lines and moving as directed.

To me as I watched this video, it struck me that both parties (esp the old guy) were quite impressed with how much they knew about the Bible and how well they could cobble together an argument using connect the dot scriptures.

To me, the further they went along, the more they began to sound like a group of nerds discussing the intricacies of Star Trek or The Lord of The Rings trilogy as if these writings were based in reality.
